How long does a wig last?

It depends on the hair, how often it's worn and how it's looked after, so the months field is yours to set. As a starting point:

  • Human hair wigs worn a few days a week are often reported to last around 6 to 12 months, sometimes longer with gentle care. Bleached and coloured hair (613 blondes, highlights) tends to be at the shorter end.
  • Worn every day, expect the shorter end of that range.
  • Many listings state their own lifespan ("Last for: one more year under proper care"). That's the retailer's claim, not a measurement, but it's a fair upper figure to try.

Care is what moves the number most. Our guides on washing a wig and daily care and storage cover the habits that make one last.

How it's worked out

Total cost = the wig + care products for the months it lasts + what each wear costs to put on. That total, divided by the number of times you'll wear it (days a week × weeks it lasts), is the cost per wear.
