Whether a colour flatters you has less to do with how light or deep your skin is than with its undertone. Answer three questions for the colours that usually suit you, and the lace that blends.
Streaks and blends usually suits a warm undertone.
Honey, caramel or copper highlights over brown or black.
These are leanings, not rules: anyone can wear any colour, and a small shift warmer or cooler, or a darker root, is often all it takes. Hold the listing photo next to your face in daylight before you buy.
On fair and light skin either one disappears well; HD is the least visible up close and on camera. A lighter lace tone and bleached knots give the most seamless finish. Lace matches your skin, not your hair colour.
On darker hair, bleached knots are what make the parting look like scalp. Brown-tinted lace partly hides dark knots too, so bleaching matters a little less with it.

If gold jewellery suits you better and the veins on your wrist look green in daylight, you are probably warm. If silver suits you and the veins look blue or purple, cool. If both work, neutral.
Honey, golden and caramel blondes, chestnut and golden browns, and copper, ginger and auburn. Go carefully with ash blonde, icy platinum and blue-black.
HD lace takes on skin colour most completely, so it blends on the widest range of skin tones. Transparent lace can show as a lighter edge on deeper skin; foundation or powder on its underside matches it to you.
